Challenging prejudice with drama skills

Anne Frank Trust drama workshop

Our Drama department worked in collaboration with The Anne Frank Trust UK on a two-day workshop to help students recognise prejudice while at the same time providing an enriched learning experience for their drama skills and knowledge.

The workshop was run by one of the Trust’s highly skilled and passionate staff educators. They worked with a group of 29 Year 9 students who are thinking about taking GCSE Drama as one of their options. The participating students were given a stimulus based on the theme of equality, diversity and inclusion. They were then guided to create their own performance in response. The students learnt key theatrical skills and techniques about engaging audiences. The final performances addressed the audiences directly with the aim of getting them to reflect on their own behaviour and thoughts about prejudice.
