Entry requirements

Students are admitted to Dallam Sixth Form who are able to benefit from the A Level and BTEC courses we offer.  Entry requirements for courses are shown in the full Sixth Form curriculum brochure and on the individual course outlines.  These entry requirements are based on experience and are there to prevent students choosing to study an unsuitable post-16 course.  Requirements include evidence of a positive attitude towards academic study and signing up to the Sixth Form Code of Conduct.

The minimum academic requirements to study a full programme three (or four) main subjects plus an enrichment option at Dallam Sixth Form are:

  1. a minimum of five GCSE grades 9-4, with at least a grade 4 in English and mathematics
  2. the ‘essential’ GCSE grade(s) described for each subject in the subject information booklet.  Students with the ‘preferred’ GCSE grade(s) will find the transition into A-level and/or BTEC study much smoother.

Where a child has been educated in a different education system overseas the Sixth Form Team will assess their application based on their equivalent qualifications and school report.
