Huge congratulations to Carla Gardiner in Year 8 who last week got signed to play for Manchester Utd U14s 2022-23 season.
Up against 1200 other girls this year, Carla was the only new outfield player that Manchester United signed. It is fantastic to see Carla’s talent have the opportunity to develop at the only Tier Plus WSL academy in the country.
Her father commented, “She has worked really hard the last two seasons at Liverpool FC playing up a year against older, bigger and stronger girls. We are very proud of her achievement and resilience to face and overcome numerous adversities throughout the season.”
With the Women’s Euros now in full swing and 70,000 in attendance for England’s opener v Austria at Old Trafford last week, and Wembley sold out for the final , the spotlight is on women’s football as a huge growth sport, and a great team sport for girls to get into.
We wish Carla the best for her debut season at Manchester United, and the Lionesses at this year’s Women’s Euros Championship.
