Working Lunches – real world careers guidance

School News ·
Working Lunches careers guidance at Dallam

Two of the four aims of our whole-school careers guidance approach at Dallam are:

  • to introduce and develop an awareness of the world of work leading to economic wellbeing; and
  • raise awareness of opportunities in employment, training and further/higher education.

Every week, in collaboration with Inspira, we invite employees from organisations in different sectors to come and have an informal chat with our students about their role, their sector and how they got to where they are.

It is a valuable opportunity for students to find out about a variety of jobs, what they’re really like and ask direct questions to people who really understand the roles and sectors. – Rob Blyth, Dallam School Careers Coordinator

The Working Lunches take place over lunchtimes on a Thursday in Room 12.  They are informal and there’s no need to pre-register to attend.  Please encourage your child to attend so they can to find out what organisations are out there and how they can access them.  It can be eye-opening to know the wealth of jobs within a sector and the different routes to careers.
