Forces families

For forces families who need stability of education, Dallam School and our boarding provision offers the continuity and stability you desire for your children.    We pride ourselves on being a warm and welcoming school.  A place which welcomes students from many walks of life and whichever year they join us.

  • we are located in south Cumbria, on the edge of the Lake District
  • we have excellent links to the M6 motorway, Manchester and Liverpool
  • we are just 1.5 hours’ drive from Catterick Garrison
  • travel to London Euston on the mainline train from nearby Kendal takes under three hours.

Quality education and value for money

As a state boarding school, Dallam offers an excellent all-round education combined with incredible value for money – approximately 50% less than independent boarding schools.  State boarding means that tuition fees are paid by the state, so you only pay boarding fees, which are very reasonable, plus we offer all service families a 5% discount.

For a full year with the service families discount our fees would be £11,552 – £12,872.50.

For families in receipt of CEA you will only pay around £1,000 per year

Benefits of boarding for Dallam’s service children:

  • children can build lasting friendships in their classes and in the boarding house with students in all years
  • the continuity in education means our teachers can track their progress over time, get to know them and be able to identify when they may need or want additional support
  • the combination of our school pastoral team and the house parents, mean that boarding students always have someone to turn to, from simple questions to emotional or academic support
  • families can choose full, weekly or part week boarding options.  We operate no exeat weekends, which means there’s no requirement to leave on any weekends during term time
  • students are encouraged to take part in different clubs and activities – sport, creative, musical or STEM-related and being at boarding means no need to worry about transport.
