Dallam’s half-millionaires!

School News ·
Doughnuts

The library was filled with bookish festive fun this lunchtime as doughnuts and drinks were devoured in equal measure (safely away from the book shelves) while students and staff attempted fun book-related quizzes.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students in Years 7, 8 and 9 who have earned the accolade of  ‘Word Half-Millionaires’ through their effort with reading this term, while also thanking our dedicated team of student librarians in Years 7 to 10, who have given up their break and lunch times this term to help out in the library.  I look forward to working with our fantastic readers and library helpers next term. Happy festive break to all and I hope Santa brings you lots of books! – Miss Brown, Librarian

A word half-millionaire is a student who has read more than 500,000 words since September through the Accelerated Reader scheme.  Dallam students are encouraged to reach this milestone with their reading next term; there is no shortage of books to choose from!

The student librarians lend a hand with shelving, jacketing and coding books, working on book displays and doing book reviews and recommendations for their fellow students.

Have a go at some of the quiz questions yourself (ask a Dallam student for help if you get stuck!).
