#DallamCompassion in action

Boarding News ·

It has been a busy half term for charitable work. Our students have admirably been demonstrating our school value of compassion through taking part in the various fundraising activities that have been taking place. As a school, we stand in support of Ukraine against the Russian attacks. Our boarding students organised a weekend community event in Milnthorpe to raise much-needed funds to help Ukrainians in dire need that are caught in the middle of the crisis. The event included a nearly new clothes sale full of teenage clothes, raffle, arts and crafts, face painting, kids’ carnival games and refreshments. The boarders raised an amazing £800, which will be donated to the DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. If you would like to donate directly, click here.

We would like to thank everyone that came to the event and the many business members of our community that donated some fantastic raffle prize gifts:
Booth’s | Castle Green Hotel, Kendal | Cutz Hair Salon | Flames | Gemology, Kirkby Lonsdale and Kendal | Goa Spice | Hairstop | Mal The Bike Guy | Mirror Mirror | Nikita’s | No.3 The Curry House | Pedro’s El Casa, Kendal | Refresh | Sue’s Cafe | The Bull’s Head | The Cross Keys | The Flower Cottage

Our extra-curricular Get to Give club arranged a collection so students and members of our school community could donate goods that would be useful to those who had had to flee from their homes in Ukraine with just what they could carry. The response was overwhelming and included everything from first-aid kits and toiletries to cuddly toys and beautiful hand-knitted clothes and blankets from the local Knit and Natter club. Thank you all!!

Drop off of Ukraine collection

Our students and Mrs Gunner arranged in their own time to drop off all the items collected at Little Deers in Milnthorpe (pictured above) who would transport the items to the Ukrainians in need.

Closer to home, the Get to Give club organised a collection of Easter Eggs for an egg hunt and also an Easter bake sale. Both activities were to support the work of Lancaster and Morecambe City of Sanctuary, the local branch of the national City of Sanctuary charity.
