The annual charitable Make a Difference Day (MADD) took place in our last week of autumn term. The Year 7 students created some fun activities for fellow students to do in order to raise money for charity. Each form had their own nominated charity:
- 7B – Refuge
-
7D – Diabetes UK
-
7G – RSPCA
-
7K – Dogs Trust
-
7L – Team Seas
-
7R – Wolfwood
-
7W – Versus Arthritis
MADD raised £515, which will be distributed between the students’ chosen charities.
The good feeling generated by the MADD fundraising day was enhanced by it also being Christmas Jumper Day. The school – staff and students – were seen sporting some beautiful, some eye-catching and some humorous knitwear – in return for a small charitable donation. Money raised from Christmas Jumper Day will go to Save the Children.
The previous week, the students in our Get to give lunchtime club organised gift donations for filling Christmas stockings and a bake sale to benefit those in our community using the Morecambe Food Bank. £125 was raised from the bake sale and lots of stockings filled, plus extra goodies for teens and adults as well as lots of food donations too, helping to make Christmas easier and more enjoyable for many.
Our students and school community have really demonstrated our school value of compassion during this festive season. We thank you all for your support.
